Thanks Judi and Lynn.  I have to say Tyson is my little angel.  It is an amazing feeling being a "Nana".  We all know the love we feel for our children and we thought there was no greater love - - well, the love I feel for Tyson is unexplainable.  He definitely has my heart.  He looks just like Brian - - I put their pictures side by side and it's amazing.

Hope all of you have a wonderful New Year and have a great time tonight watching the game.

The Sugar Bowl party, (and Blitz's SURPRISE Birthday Party!), was wonderful.  The game didn't end too well, but the food was wonderful and the company was outstanding.  BIG, BIG, BIG THANKS to Judi for hosting all of us, once again, at her beautiful home.

Judi, you're awesome!

Ditto!   Great party, loads of fun, food, and liquid refreshments.  Was there a football game?   Ha.  Hardly anyone watched it.  We were all too busy being the tight-knit class of 77!  I'm glad I got to see so many of you again.

Oh, and Judi, we left you a present on your entrance-way table behind the pictures.

And now, left's see what fun, memorable, black-mail-worthy surprises my camera has captured.....  Muh-ha-ha!!!!

Janie, did you bring that bundt cake to the party?  It is absolutely delicious !!! I have eaten half of it all by myself.  As a matter of fact, I have eaten all the bread I stashed that Debbie Summerlin made, all the banana pudding I stole from Tony Peregoy, almost all the cheeseball I wouldn't let Glenda Johnson Jordan take home.  I can feel my waistine growing as I type... I'm getting ready to start on the left-over wings that Gary Ledbetter brought.  Soon there will be no need to call me Judi Judi Judi...I will answer to Chubba !!!!!

Word to the wise....I think the problem occurs when you type a comment then when you go to enter the security code, if you have typed that incorrectly and have to re-type, you will get all those weird symbols.  I had it happen to me the other day and was able to correct it before I clicked on "submit comment".  I hope this helps !!!!

News from the Front!!
We are lodged in deep trench of various possible diagnoses'. Whilst the bombs of shattering bad news explode around us.... I lost my helmet. My fatigues are worn out(I know what tired really means now)
and the shrapnel of daily problems keeps stinging me in every embarrassing spot imaginable. And my first aid kit is nothing more than a sticky piece of gauze and an aspirin!!( ran out of whiskey ages ago).[ This version of story telling inspired by my sister Lisa herself, she said,"We have a personal WAR against Cancer going on here and she is the General-who's gonna kick it's "butt".]
The doctors did a biopsy since the 'super MRI' was too foggy to get a proper reading.( If you weigh in above 300lbs. or have really wide abdomen; then it will not be accurate.) The biopsy did reveal cervical
carcinoma. Source spot showed no glandular differential and no keratination. However, they do suspect it is present in other areas.
Lisa has been on Chemo & radiation for 2 weeks or so. The worst it has been was a 'bout' with nausea and vomiting-last Saturday. Morphine has been administered as needed for pain-as needed.
Now, myself and the rest of us are getting prepared to be checked for the dreaded disease ourselves. It gives me goose bumps!!!
Thank you All for your concern. Lisa has expressed her surprise and elation at the outpouring of good will for her.
Thanks Lynn for reminding me to update everyone. Loved the picks from Blitz's birthday party!!.

Well, I have another "Judi" story...similar to the "Brian Head Incident"....back when I first started searching for email and mailing addresses, I found Kathy Schulz in the alumni directory.  No married name listed, no cross-reference.  It had a Kansas address so I mailed a flyer to her.  While I was out in Wichita visiting Clint, I got a phone call from a lady...named Kathy Schulz.  She did graduate in 1977 but...not from Lee High School !!!  As a matter of fact, she has never even been to Alabama !!!  So in true Judi fashion, I apologized for the mix-up and invited her to our event anyway, which she respectfully declined...!!!  Last night I was working on finding more people and as I'm looking at the alumni directory, the page got turned to the G's.  I saw Tony Glass's name and guess what, right above his name is Kathy Schulz Glass.....all this time she has been right up under my nose and I didn't even know it and she is married to our wonderful Tony Glass !!!!  I immediately called their house and explained the situation to Tony...so...my Kathy Schulz mystery has been solved !!!  Tony and Kathy, please accept my heartfelt apologies for not catching this sooner.

I just feel it is my civic duty to inform all of you of these little mishaps so we can talk and laugh about them together rather than someone talking behind my back !!!!!

Love you all !!!

Hey Judi and classmates, I am sorry I have been out of the communication of everybody. I have been very busy helping my stepmother get my Dad back to full strength. As you recall back in October my Dad had to have amputation on his right foot due to diabetes. We got him home after aweek in the hospital, but 3 days later he became very deathly sick. We had to call paramedics to the house and they rushed himto Jackson Hospital and they had to resuscitate him after his heart had stopped for "8" minutes{ truely we do have a "Great God ". He had to stay in the ICU at Jackson's Hospital for 13 days [ it seemed like forever] but we had his doctor try to figure out what the problem was along with Doctor Bledsoe who is  over the infectious diseases at Jackson. The only thing they could determine was he had contacted a staff infection while he was in the hospital.Through the long process I am thankful that I was still able to have him for Christmas. Surely him being brought back to recovery has been a great gift to me. Thank you all for your prayers, I am sorry it has took this long to thank everyone. We truely are a "Great and Thoughtful"class for each other and again I am "proud" to have been and "Still"  are of the "CLASS OF 1977".

Mrs. Davis is now over the competition of all the high school perfomances that compete at the South Alabama State Fair along with the spring competitions. My daughter was in the Prattville showchoir/choralees the last 4 years and I got to talk to her at this past state fair at Garrett Coliseum. She really has not changed much just like the rest of us it is just a number.

Judi, Judi, Judi,

I absolutely LOVE Gracie!!  I swear, I can be having a day from H-E-Double Hockey Sticks at school and just seeing that sweet child goes a long, long way toward "making it all better!"    Whenever any of her peers decide they need to "push the envelope", Miss Gracie puts 'em in their place.  (I just can't imagine where she got her attitude!)  What do you do, Judi, tutor her "Attitude Adjustments 101" on the way home from school?  Anyway, she is precious, kind, considerate of others, (especially her teachers!), and a true joy to have in the classroom.  I'm going to steal her away from you if you don't watch out!!

On another note, apparently I get to keep my email address even though we've switched from one internet provider to another.  Guess they just didn't know what they were talking about when we made the change over.  Anyway, thehodgsonfive@aol.com is still good until further notice.

And thanks for fixing all my squiggly, little lines on one of my previous emails.  Guess that'll teach me to be more careful when entering the security code from now on.

Love you, Girlfriend!

Cathleen and I were at a wedding for a mutual friend Saturday and I do believe we watched two 85-year olds fall in love at the reception !!!  I meant to share this story at Beth's....this man and woman were adorable !!!  They both ended up in Montgomery as Katrina evacuee's.  They lived in the same neighborhood in New Orleans for most of their lives, he attended some school and she attended the girl's school right across the street.  As adults, they again lived in the same neighborhood....same street, different blocks...never knew each other.  Katrina moved them to Montgomery, and they both live in Deer Creek, still never met...and then they met yesterday at the wedding reception.  Have you ever seen an 85-year old woman giddy over meeting someone who makes her heart flutter?  She said he (Buddy) is vivacious !!!  And let me tell you, old Buddy has got it going on !!!  When he was getting ready to leave, I told him not to leave without getting her phone number and he had a pen and paper out quick as lightning !!!  Yesterday was a magical day for me....watching what could very well be called "love at first sight" happen right before my eyes !!!

Love to all !!!

I've set this up as a "nomination only"  category...so no, I'm not nominating myself !!!  I just thought it would be fun to see who everyone would come up with and go from there !!!

Karen,
Please, a few words from a pro, "GET OVER IT"  you have a life and you need to get on with it.  My mom always told me that and guess what, it works.   Sometimes you have to think about you and no matter what it takes to get things in your life right, such as working two jobs, supporting your kids without help, then you have to do it and get on with life, your life!!!!  You will feel better about yourself.  I know that I did.  I only pray that you can find the strength that it takes to go own.  It will be good for you and your daughter.  Let it go!!!!  Believe me, it is hard, I know and the pain is always there but you will be the better person for it.  Love is out there if you are able to open your heart to it!  It took me a long time to find someone that appreicates me and respects me as much  as i do them.  Never give up hope.

Hey, Tony,

I'm glad to find that you are okay.  The sirens woke Grayson and I up this morning before daybreak, and so we turned on WSFA and listened to the "gloom and doom" regarding the bad weather.  Finally, we heard that a tornado had actually touched down in the Auburn area and demolished a home, turned over a car and caused severe damage in other areas of Auburn-Opelika.  If I'd had a phone number for you I would have called to make sure you were okay 'cause I know you live in the area around Lanett.  Anyway, glad to hear you and yours are okay.

Folks,  as some of us have just been recently reminded, life is very short and very precious.  We all seem to have the bad habit of putting off until later things we really should be doing yestersay.  My husband, Grayson, Judi, and Laura and Brian Head just spent a few hours hanging out and having a good time with good people.  I think we should all stop, take a breath, and think about the fact that we are only given a short period on this Earth.  I have it on good authority that a Saint Patrick's Party is going to be put together for some time in March for our happly group.  I would strongly encourage everyone who reads this post to keep an eye out for the posting of information for this and for you all to SERIOUSLY  do everything humanly possible to be present if we can pull a Saint Patrick's party off.

I can't speak for everyone, but for me personally, this website and the parties, impromptu get togethers, and phone calls, have meant a great deal.  Who knew that, thirty-something years later, we'd all be connecting like this.  People I "knew of" in high school are now some of my best friends.  Guys, as some of us were reminded today, life is way, way, way too short to just "brush off" people and events.  Make time to be there the next time the R.E. Lee Class of '77 has a get together.  I promise you that you will not regret it.

Judi,  I just love you!  Thank you for putting together the website and keeping it going, thank you for the phone calls to remind me about all things up and coming, and thank you for just being you.  You're awesome and I thank the good Lord that you are my friend!!

Anybody know where Ronnnie Naramore is?  He and I used to play gutar all the time together.  Last I heard he was in Missippi.
Has anybody had any contact with him or know where he is?  His sister Sandra was a year behind us.

Hey Vernon - Wasn't Ronnie and Cindy Naramore siblings? I was good friends with Cindy at Capitol Heights. If anybody gets up with Ronnie (two n's), I would like to find out how to get in touch with Cindy.

I am going to email you pictures of Karla Collier to put on her page, I've got lots of them but do not know how to post them.  It has taken me months to get to where I can post a message.  I also have some pictures of Mark Burt.  Needless to say I am computer illiterate but I will try.  I envy those of you that are able to keep up with this technology.  I am just becoming familiar with the internet.  Blogs, facebook, etc. - I don't have a clue what all that entails.  Hopefully I will soon have time  to catch up!

Time For LEE trivia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Did you know the LEE logo or Written Style of LEE on the helmet or uniform is called The Rocking Chair LEE? (That's where the L is long and curved like a rocking chair and the two EE's are resting upon it), It was actually designed by Spence McCracken in the early 90's and is COPYRIGHTED???; Im not kidding! I believe it was a school in Texas that was actually sued for using the Rocking Chair LEE on their uniforms and they were sued by LEE High of Montgomery and Robert E. Lee of Montgomery won that suit!!!  If you think thats something get this......All the Lee uniforms use the same colors as the Cardinals except one item.  THE HELMET uses only LEE RED!  NO JOKE! Thats why Lee's helmets are more costly than others in our school system. They have to be sent off to a special manufacturer and dipped in a special secret color ratio mixture! (I think it contains some special percentage of sparkle too) and get this: it is also COPYRIGHTED. Thats right, there is a copyrighted LEE RED that exists! Now I know thats a tuff one to enforce but if you see anyone wearing LEE Red I suppose we're supposed to inform them that they are in violation of copyright law and cease at once and take it off?????? And what if they have LEE RED on their pants and shirt??? Then what? Indecent exposure? Certainly if LEE RED was taken to court it would be overturned because ANY color that is found in God's color spectrum could and should be considered public domain right? Certainly nudity is not. But then again the bible says...and they were naked and not ashamed. Try walking down Dexter Ave. nakedas a Jay Bird and see what happens and..........OK, I've done it again but all of the above is true, I swear, as told to me re: the rocking chair logo and Lee's helmet color), by Lee's asst. football coach Tony Whathisname. Ok, so I just met the guy but he was wearing a Lee shirt with a Rocking Chair Logo!!!!! Anyway......... time for my nap. And thats Lee Trivia for Today!!!!!!!!!!!!Go Lee REd??

Wow, Its been a long time since I've heard that phrase but
Earnest P Worrell is gone but not forgotten.

I try to stay current though, I saw the group "Shinedown"
at the riverfront last year.  Nowdays cellphone lights have taken the place of BIC lighters for those who shout and want: "More, More....."

My enlightenment comes now from Transendental Meditation I learned with Billy Ludden and David Summerland in the 70's back when there was actually a TM Center in Montgomery.
And seeking more light as a practicing Freemason (No we don't seek world domination) and my church at St James
Methodist (at the corner of Vaughn and Ryan RD).

For those who may not like our choice of venues for our get-togethers...

First - let me say that I alone do not choose where we meet.  If someone tells me we should meet at such-and-such place, I post it and we go from there.

Second - I am just the messenger of the website, not the all-deciding-factor (well, kinda sorta !!!)

Third - if you do not particularly like where the chosen venue is, then pick another date and another venue and we will go from there, too.

Fourth - I have learned that I can not please all people at all times.  Wish I could but that is impossible.  Just trying to find all 700-plus from our class is tough enough.

Fifth - meeting at a local establishment (bar) once a month does not classify us as alcoholics.  Some of the people who join us choose not to drink and they still have a good time.

I hope this clears a few things up.

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance...(author unknown).  I intend to dance until I can't dance no more !!!

Love to all !!!
Judi

Judi, I love where we meet. We all have put in our two cents worth from time to time.  We have met at different places for different reasons. Just like I did the race thing, of course with some help, and we met at AwShucks. Its was great fun.  I wish some people would understand that just because you go to a bar doesn't always mean you have to drink. I have been out many of nights and never had a thing to drink. I went to dance, meet with friends and just have a good time. If you can't have a good time with friends and classmates, then you don't need to be there.  I think you do a wonderful job with all of this. So what if you tick off one person. Just keep up the good work!!!!!!  You're the GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, I couldnt have thought of a better place.
And the real question is "Whats not to like?"
The establishment were talking about has been a Montgomery tradition since the early 70s until it moved east
to the Pike Road area.  A lovely place with classy decor with historical pictures of the Pike Rd Community in its Hay day (Or should I say its major "Cotton Gin" day?).

In regards to the site for the party.  I hate anyone would feel that it is not a good fit.  It's not only a bar but also a fine place to meet and have dinner.   I wish I could meet you guys this weekend but I will be unavailable.   Have a great time! And I will see you guys in April.

It has been brought to my attention that listed in today's paper is an obituary for a Mrs. Simpson, survived by son Mike Simpson. I have not been able to verify if this is the same Mike Simpson who graduated with us or not. So rather than post and have it be incorrect, I am trying to find anyone who may have some facts.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks to each of you for keeping me informed so that I can pass along information.

Also, please remember all of our prayer requests. Especially pray for Debbie Montgomery Hardy, her step-son, and family as they await word on his prognosis.

My Friday night was a bit more exciting than my Friday day !!!  I got an email awarding us a job that we really didn't think we had  chance of getting !!!  Yea !!!  Just when things starts slowing down, God gives us a little helping hand !!!  I called my boss and we had a celebration drink !!!

The weather was funky up here in Tallassee...so I took two Xanax...just to ensure I slept through whatever was coming my way.  At 12:15 AM, my Alabama Power guy called with an emergency service call that needed to be handled first thing this morning...talk about messing up a good sleep!  And this is why I am the "Company Princess' !!!  For one:  I am on call 24/7, for two: I make sure the customer gets his service as requested !!!  But...my electricians do not like me at all !!!  Oh well, at least we still have our jobs !!!

Time to get in the yard and pick up what the wind brought down.

I am so excited about seeing everyone tonight at Crockmiers !!!  Karen, Karen, Karen...I can't wait to hear what you have been up to lately !!!  And I am ready to dance !!!

Love you all !!!

Hello everyone!!!!  Hope you all have a great Easter weekend now that the storms are gone!
Yes, Mona & GT tied the knot after 17 YEARS!!!!  Her official last name is now TRUETT.  And in agreement with Karen, we all seem to sit home on Friday nights ......  me included!  What a shame for us single folks with no one.....  booo hoooo, haha.  That is why I am a big fan of Netflix's!!!!  LOVE IT!!  It's soooo easy and cheap!
All I ever do is work and sit home!  Work is hell but thank you God for allowing me to have a job!
I hope Crockmier's is still open after the storm out that way last night.  It got bad with big damage in the Ray Thorington road & Macon East area.  Here's a link for the story on Montg Advertiser & pics of damage.

I don't know about y'all but last night at Crockmier's was about the most fun I've had at our gatherings. Food was good, Band was GREAT and everybody was dancing. It was good to see Lynn Darby and Tammy Jones Covall. As with our other ladies, y'all haven't aged a bit. To those that didn't make it - come to the next one . . . . I promise a good time !!!!!!!!!  HAPPY EASTER CLASS . . . . . . . :)

Strange how things work. I was going through some stuff today and found a picture of me with Mrs. Penn and an Achievement Award she had presented me with  for "outstanding work in Magic Performance" at Lee High School May 9th, 1977. She was a hoot!

You ought to post that photo Gary . . . . And you're right she was a hoot!  I remember how she would always talk about how much she was in love with Mr. Penn.  He's a lucky man . . . . . On another note - I like the new look of the website Judi!  I appreciate it having more of a "manly" theme this time . . . . . . :)

Hey, Guys,

Brian, you're in deep, deep poo poo.  You couldn't have taken another picture when I had my eyes OPEN?!  (And I hadn't partaken of the Lemon Drop yet!!) Oh, well, we'll see if we can't do better next time. . .

Secondly, my computer, which has been on life support for a couple of months now, has been upgraded from terminal to critical.  My neighbor is a programmer for NCIS, (the REAL one, not the one on t.v.), and he performed some serious surgery on my hard drive.  Hopefully, the stupid thing will continue to work for a little longer, and I can get back in the blog.

The April get together at Crockmier's was awesome!  In addition to the usual suspects, there were several folks there who haven't been in attendance for a while, and it was great to see them.  I know a couple of our fellow alums who live right here in Montgomery, have the website address, (and have even visited the website a time or two), but still can't quite get it together enough to show up for anything.  Their loss!!  I can't tell you what our get togethers mean to me, especially since my husband and son have been in Florida.  My husband graduated from The Montgomery Academy with thirty-four other folks.  You'd think that, with a Senior class that small, they'd be able to keep track of one another.  After we left Crockmier's Saturday night, he told me he was actually envious!  The only time his class has gotten together was for their 10th reunion.  (I was there.  It was boring.  No band.  Food was not too good.  Conversation consisted of most people trying to "one up" each other.  We ate, we chatted, we left.)  He said, "You guys are not just high school friends getting together;  you guys are a family."  And we are.  Thank you, Judi, for bringing the "family" together.  Love you, Girlfriend!!

Story for the day...you just never know where your next lead will come from so always be on your toes !!!  You just might connect with someone through the most unlikely source !!!

Today, my ex-wife-in-law (we lovingly call each other that, we share an ex-husband !!!) was looking through our yearbook.  She works with Dori Wickham who also went to Lee.  Anyway, my ex-wife-in-law, otherwise known as Tammy, saw John Henderson's picture and realized she knew him !!!  So, she sent him the website info and I emailed him and he emailed me and it made for a good day !!!

John has been with the AL Dept of Public Safety (State Troopers) since 1978 and is a graduate of Troy State (BS Psych/Soc).  Welcome aboard, John !!!  We hope to see you soon !!!

And I found 6 other email addresses today.  Hopefully, they will respond and our list of "found" will get longer and our list of "not found" will get shorter !!!

Now...I must go love on my granddaughter for a while !!!

I love you all !!!

It has been so good to see the new classmate info !!!  Thank you all for participating !!!

Judi, Honey, when is the May get together going to be?  I've talked with some folks, (Kemper and Kelly Davis and the Ernie Parkers), and have just about got them talked into coming out and joining the fun!  I also need to instruct my husband which weekends in May he and our boy need to be here, so let's get this thing put together.

Also, I'm working on getting Clinton and Cheryl Griggs Rice Carter and James and Pam Moulton Bozeman to join us, but I need a date.

And did I mention that I just LOVE Gracie?  Like I said before, that child makes teaching a true joy.

Love you lots!

What did I tell you, Girls?  I talked with Brian this afternoon, and he was soooo green when he found out about out luncheon.  He even went so far as to accuse us of being sexist!  I explained that absolutely no one had a problem with the guys getting together for lunch and that he should coordinate that very thing.  However, I think he was still pouting because they didn't think of it first!  Guess it just goes to show that some folks still have that "high school attitude" even after all these years!

I went to the visitation for Gary Ingle's dad today.  Sometimes...good things happen when sad things occur.  It was so good to see Gary - he has not changed a bit !!!  His wife is very sweet and his son is sooo tall (and cute!!)  Kelly Rawlinson, you are a sweetie!  Thank you for meeting me there.  Tommy and Terri Jones Head - ya'll were a sight for sore eyes !!!  I can tell that Tommy is still quite the character I remember from DECA days and bless your heart, Terri for putting up with him !!!  Ha !!!  And for all you Capitol Heights folks....remember Eddie Walker?  He is still just as cute as he was back in the day !!!  He's so huggably cute !!!  And...as we were getting ready to leave, I look over and there was this angel sitting off to the side.  I immediately knew who she was...Phillip Sims' mom !!!  And she remembered me from the 2nd grade !!!!  Or at least she was gracious enough to say that she remembered me !!!  Now I'm wondering...did Phillip really bake that pound cake he brought to my house or did he co-erce his mom into making it for him?????  Phillip, do you have anything to say about this?

So, I've gotten off point here....and my point is...we are not promised tomorrow, make the most of what you have today, live like you were dying, tell the people in your life you love them !!!!

I LOVE YOU ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We ARE dying . . . Every single one of us, some day, some how.
Morbid as it may be . . . It's the God's truth.  Live happy, live blessed, and live grateful you have been given a life. And any life without loving and no kinda living at all . . . . . .

I saw Kelly Blake Mosely at Church yesterday.  Her Mom & stepfather, Carol & Paul Turner, have been attending our church for several months and Kelly was there with her Mother.  Carol & Paul are old, dear friends of Harper's parents, Thad & Carroll Pruett.  Harper & I had gone over to speak to Carroll and she introducted us to her daughter Kelly.  I immediately recognized her and of course the wonderful website and job Judi does came up quickly. What a small world it is.
It was great seeing you Kelly.

Sharon,

Did Thad retire from Russell Construction or did he work for Russell at one time?
Reply
Sharon Salter Pruett on May 13, 2009 9:54 AM
Hi Janie,
Yes, Thad did work for Russell Construction for a period of time a few years ago.  Thad has pretty much been self employed during his construction years and the last few years has been working from home.  He is an engineer and has licenses in several states..he has had several big projects in the last few years but since October has pretty much been semi retired..my mother in law had a partial knee replacement in October and now Thad is trying to get his "heart issues" taken care of.  Thanks for asking...
do you know Thad?
Reply
Janie Hodgson on May 15, 2009 2:34 AM
Sharon,

Yes, I do know Thad.  My husband, Grayson, used to work with him at Russell.  Grayson left them five years ago, and is now a Project Engineer with Caddell Construction.  Steve and Carlyn Russell go to church with us, and I've worked with their twins in Children's Choir.  Small world, isn't it?  Please tell Thad that Grayson and I said, "Hello", and will put them on our prayer list.

I posted some pictures of the project we just finished in Holland. It was a lot of work but a lot of fun. Check out the pictures and you can get an idea of the size of this project.
We had people from 7 different countries working on it.
I even found time to go geocaching in Holland . Fun times. I hope every one has fun at Crockmiers tonight. Be safe.

Janie, I set up a photo album for you !!!  And I also set one up for the Crockmiers party so Brian, post whenever you get ready !!!

For those who did not make the gathering Thursday night....we missed you and you missed out on a mighty wonderful time !!!  Let me see if I can correctly remember all in attendance !!!  And if I leave someone off, please let me know...Anastasia Cleondis Hronas, Judi, Lynn Darby, Brian and Laura Head, Blitz and Amanda Welch, Tommy Brassell, Kelly Rawlinson and friend Michael, Dawn Sexton, Marla King Heilman, Debra Lawrence Ehrlich, Mike McCreedy, Debbie Daniel, Connie Mims Edmondson, David Folmar and wife (and I apologize but I can't think of her name this morning.....) !!!

What a wonderful time we had !!!  Anastasia is still the same !!!  Full of life and smiling all the time !!!  It was sooooo great to see Marla again !!!

I was pro-active Thursday and went ahead and told my bosses that if I wasn't at work by 7 AM this morning, consider that I have called in sick !!!  Well, it's 7:27 and here I am at home, blogging instead of getting ready for work...but they were warned !!!

We had 2 great ideas suggested last night...I will give ya tidbits right now and more details later !!!  Mike McCreedy has suggested we have a "movie night" at the Fitzgerald Museum...how cool is that ???  David Folmar mentioned that we should take a cruise...like next year...so I will get back with him and we will work on that later, too !!!

Thank you to each and every one of you for all your support in our ventures.

I love you all !!!!!!!!!!

I just got back from our May birthday gathering.  You have no idea how much I needed that.   Sometimes, I feel like I'm going a thousand miles and hour with my hair on fire.  Today, I got the chance to stop the world and spend time with great friends.  No, we don't all know each other, but we have Lee as our common bond, and it is enough to start a friendship now.  Despite the lousy weather, we had a huge turn-out at the picnic.  Lots of fun, plenty to drink, an abundance of laughter, and crazy conversation going on everywhere.   I saw classmates I honestly had not seen since graduating from Lee!  It was great.   And no egos to work around in this crowd.  We are all happy just to be together.  So to you, my classmates and fellow Lee '77 grads, thanks for the continued memories.  You are the very best!

Dang Tony, Those are mighty eloquent words and I agree with you 100%. It amazes me every time we get together to see what a tight bond we all have with one another. It is a true blessing.  I have heard the "word on the street" is that all other late 70's graduating classes here in Montgomery have heard of our get togethers and are very envious. I don't know about y'all, but I'm kind of proud of Lee High School, Us, and the wonderful friendships we all share. May God continue to bless us . . .

It is very interesting to find them here because some of them have been really cool. With all the fun I am having here I do miss my granddaughter and my friends at home. It is really a great thing that this website lets me keep in touch with what is happening across the "pond" as Judi put it.
Everyonr have fun and be safe. PS Don't let anything happen to Judi until I get back or some one else will have to take over the website.

I just wanted to say thanks to Judi and everyone that helped her for a wonderful Sunday afternoon. Judi you are most kind and gracious to open your home, and it is a lovely one at that. I think the highlight of my day was Wayne's children catching the fish on hot dogs! I have lived 50 years and never seen a bream caught on a hot dog! It was nice to see everyone and wonderful to have Earline Wright and her sister with us as well. It was great to see you all.

I apologize for taking so long in posting who attended Sunday...it has been very busy around here !!!

First, let me say what an extra special week this past week was !!!  It is also so great to get together with you guys and then when we have somebody who hasn't attended before, it makes it even better !!!  Having Anastasia and Marla and Mike Mc attend Thursday night was icing on the cake !!!

Now for Sunday...what can I say...it was great...rain and all !!!  Thelma didn't get to come to my house...seems her family had other plans for her.  Don't they know how to share ???  Just kidding, Thelma, but we sure were looking forward to seeing you !!!  So, listed in no particular order, are the wonderful people who weathered the storm and made it to my house anyway !!!  Blitz and Amanda Welch, Karen Blackmon Caldwell, Teresa Cobb Mefford, Brian Head, Lynn Darby, Bill Colley, Earline Wright and her sister Margaret, Wayne Chastain, his wife Holly and their daughter and 2 sons, Tony Peregoy and his 2 sons, Janie Crouch Hodgson, her husband Grayson, their son and twin daughters, Robert and Cheryl Henderson Harrell, Connie Mims Edmondson, Glenda Johnson Jordan and her grandson.  Have I left anyone out?  All the children are gorgeous !!!  We have good genetics in our class !!!  And Tony, your son hugged all us girls before he left !!!  You have trained him right!  Janie's twins were lifesavers and really took up time with the smaller children.  And Wayne....my goodness, you have a beautiful wife and such young children !!!!

A HUGE thank you for coming and welcome aboard to Earline, Margaret, Teresa, and Wayne - our latest first timers !!!  I hope this won't be your last time!  Margaret graduated in '76 and says her class doesn't do anything so I invited her to join our group!  We have enough love to spread it around !!!

Brian and Connie, thank you so much for handling the grill in the rain!  I did manage to get the Boston Butt cooked before the bottom fell out !!!  All the food was delicious, the company was even better !!!

Thank you everyone for coming and helping, for bringing snacks or drinks, or plates or whatever you brought, but mainly thank you for coming to my little house in NoWheresVille !!!

My door is always open to any of you !!!

Gary, don't worry, nothing is going to happen to me before you get back from "across the pond" frolicking around the countryside !!!  We love the pictures, especially the flowers you posted on the website!

I love you all !!!

Anyway, Judy told me to cleck out the blog and....WOW...looks like I've really been missing out. I'm tuned in now and look forward to talking and seeing y'all (I will make a more concentrated effort to get to the events). Pack your bags, we'll leave tonight !!!

For those of you who have already been to the beach this summer, how nice...  For those of you, like me, who have not yet had a chance to go or live too far away...this design is for you !!!  Sit back and let that cool, salty breeze just take you away !!!

*****If you don't read your email but do check the website, please consider taking a look at facebook.  I know some of you may think it is for the younger crowd.  I, too, was leary at first; however, there is much more we can do on there and it truly is fun...once you figure it out!  We have a group set up for our class, I can still send out broadcast emails to anyone who is on facebook, we have more picture space in albums.  And...there are many different groups you can be involved in.  My cousins have our own special group and it has proven to be a wonderful way for us to post pictures and pass the word along about cousin gatherings and family events.  It has a section that lists birthdays and reminders are given....and it's free !!!

I still plan on working on finding our lost ones because we really and truly are the most awesome group out of any graduating class EVER at Lee !!!  But I have reached a point where I need help...and asking for help is a toughie for me! Do I have any volunteers?

For those of you who aren't interested, there are all kinds of blocks and security stuff that you can put on your account.  All I ask is that you give it a chance.

I love you all !!!!!!!!!!!

But, for the life of me I can’t think who it reminds you of…

For one… Bruce Lovett is the only drummer I knew from high school, and he is very happy with his life …

For two… It can’t be me because I never made it ..

For three… Is it you? Are you one of those frustrated politicians? Please don’t freak out and run away …

We are all at a crossroads …and running away only prolongs the agony…

IT IS TIME FOR ALL OF US…TO CONSOLADATE, LIQUIDATE, LIBERATE and DECIDIDE WHAT IS REALLY IMPORTANT, to us and our families.

YA KNOW??????

I have had the busiest summer visiting old friends and one I had totally forgotten about. Two weeks ago I caught up with Sandra Powell Y. in San Jose California. We had the best time recalling old memories and talking about many of you. It was all good and she looks fabulous. She has been doing a boot camp getting ready for a cruise around Bora Bora with another couple. Trust me when I say she is ready for her Bikini and just celebrated her 50th birthday. Her husband Tuck is a great cook and we thoroughly enjoyed drinking their fine wine on their beautiful lanai. Thanks Judi for getting us together.
Earlier in June I had a great time with Karen, Kelly and Annette. It was the highlight of my trip to Montgomery to help Mom clean out her closets. Mom was glad I left so she could rest. I think she may have sold her home so please pray the bid comes in satisfactorily.
I will come back when Mom actually moves to Florida to continue her thrilling life dancing, dating, and living life to its fullest. You would all like to be my mom at 78. She is incredible.
College visits have kept me and Austin busy, Adam is at camp all summer, and Savannah just got her permit. She scared me to death trying to drive home. Lessons are in order tomorrow. Joanie is swimming, going to VBS, girl scout camp, and sleeping over at her friends. She keeps us all busy.
Mary Dunn Metzel has had a few medical problems, but appears to be on the mend. I really do hope she is OK, but with Mary things are always OK. She said she is find and I have to believe her. She has always been a sister to me.
Ralph and I stay on the go. We spend a week in South carolina, a week in California and are leaving for Ft. Lauderdale in August. Some time in between we want to take Austin to visit Samford, B'ham Southern, and Alabama just because Leisa lives in Tuscaloosa. His dream would be to go to Auburn, but that out of state tuition is a bear!!!!
Anyway, take care all and I hope to see you next time I come to Montgomery.
Love,
Starla

Hey Sports Fans,

I'm BaaaaccccccccKKKKK!!
Just kidding.  Hey Judy thanks for providing the Lee (RED)
Football schedule.  I'm guessing you are awaiting those who want to get together for a Lee (COPYRIGHT "ROCKING CHAIR LEE LOGO"--SPENCE MCCRACKEN.) High
School Class of 77 to get together and see some local games.  In years past, Kemper Davis, myself and our young sons got together and saw some exciting games together!!!! I think Mike McCreedy was there one time too.  We had a pretty good system worked out to arrive at the right place and time and meet-up in a simple way so it was easier to find one another and sit together.
(No trouble from Gangs or anything ever close to that  happened during those times.)  Anyway we always had a good time and if you want, I can share our system with you and maybe you'll want to adopt it as a system that everybody could follow if they RSVP ed for the game.  This is only a suggestion, if someone has a better way, its ok.  It just worked good for us at the time.
We always had a good time while using the back-up (anything could happen nowadays), of strength in numbers!!! Not to mention, the more the better!
So wad ya'll say?

Your "Rocking Chair" Lee Football fan,
Vernon (Lee Red) Scott

Hey Sports Fans,

I'm glad to see a responce to the LEE, ("Rocking Chair Lee Logo," Copyright- -Spence McCracken-- All rights reserved.) High School
Football games.  Me and Kemper and our sons used to go alot so we sat the Lee side, (The crummy wooden side mostly).  FYI: A dollar a parking ticket.   When one of the other party would arrive first, we would enter the Elementary School side entrance, go down to the opening (more later) enter and go find a seat...turning and going on the main walk-way, I think "North", the same direction of of "Hank William's Grave.  (Don't you just love these directions?).  Keep going till you get to about the 40 yard-line (maybe alittle before, and go up, not too far, from the main rail, and that's where the person who got there first could "scan" easily and get each others attention.  It always worked in the past.
We went for years and didn't have a problem, {Gangs and such).
But now a days, you cant be too careful.

If you need more details, you can call me at: 315-8553.
I'll be happy to explain it better.  If someone has already thought of a better way....and I havent gotten the word, please call.

But as I said, this system always worked for us.

Go Big Red!  (Copyright: "Lee Red," by Spence McCracken--All rights reserved.)

Vernon Scott
**For those not in the know, "Lee Red" is a special color which  has to be sent off and dipped in a special secret color ratio-mixture, unknown to the Western Hemisphere!!
Thiis is why the "Lee Helmet" is more costly than other Helmets in our School system.  (No Joke!)

Once again, guys, I don't Facebook - Sorry!  Anyway, Judi, I apologize for not calling you back the other day about the game.  I woke up the morning after we talked with a sore throat, aching all over, running temperature, etc.  Went to the doctor, (I've made two trips), and two shots, six prescriptions, blood tests, nasal swabs x 2, throat culture, chest and sinus x-rays later, they've decided I have a very bad case of bronchitis.  Which is what I told them I had the first time I went in there.  However, as I have no medical degree and they supposedly do, they wanted to try their way first.  I am happy to report that I am feeling better, (probably had absolutely nothing to do with all the drugs and plenty to do with time), but am still not completely well quite yet.  Hope to be in a few days.  I would have called you Thursday, but you wouldn't have been able to understand a thing I said.  Anyway, we'll try the football game thing once again in a couple of weeks if you're still game.  Maybe we can get a group together this time!

Hi Folks,
Sorry its been awhile since I've posted.  It's December already!!
I'm glad some of ya'll picked up on the "Lee Football" sugestion.
Kemper and I used to go alot.  Anyway,I wished I could have joined you cause, I know whoever went, had a good time!
I would have been there with bells on but I have a son who is on
the ACA football team, who used to come with us to Crampton
Bowl, but now he's a "Star", (at least he is, in my mind), of the team.
So due to my priorties, I just couldn't justify getting out to Crampton Bowl on the same night.  I miss all of ya'll because this includes "Basketball season" and "football season," I have 2 sons
ya know and I miss when they were little and I took them to the Lee Games.  This also conflicts with some of ya'lls socials!!!!

Wish I could come and partisapate more often, (this is my first blog in a while and I dont really do the facebook stuff either).  Judy, your doing a great job and hope to partisipate more in the future.

Dont forget about me!
Vernon

PS.  I saw Rickey Pittman at the Alice Cooper Concert!!!!!

Judi,

I STILL haven't figured out the Facebook thing, so I need your help, please! As I told you, the Niceville High School Eagles are playing in the Citrus Bowl in Orlando this coming Saturday, 12/19, at 1:00 p.m. E.D.T. for the Florida Class 4A State Championship. The Eagle Pride Marching Band, (my son, Kyle, is a trumpet player in the band and his girlfriend, Jordynn, is in the Color Guard), will be leaving Niceville High School this Friday, 12/18, morning at 7:30 a.m. on nine, large buses going to Orlando. Grayson and I will be leaving with a gajillion other bleary-eyed parents at 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning on our way to Orlando. I'd like to ask for prayer that we all get down there and back safely, and that Niceville wins the state Championship. Thanks in advance for the prayers, and you guys have a great time Friday night. I'll be thinking about ya'll! Love you, Janie

I just found out that Debbie Hanson's husband (Paul Hanson) is experiencing some illness and she had to leave her work to help take care of him.  I don"t know the details, but pray for her and her family.  She doesnt do much with computers but maybe my pleadings have convinced her to log in.  If anyone knows her number - please call and let her know everybody's thinking of her and hopefully she will get to go back to work soon!!!!

And share what you can with the rest of us!!!!

More Light,
Vernon

Well I just spent a night with my grand daughter and she is the mostest wonderful thing in the world. She is almost 3 and can count to 100., she knows her address and her phone numbers and everybodys ages. She can spell her name and she knows all her alphabet by site. She can even count to 100 by 10's. She can recite the pledge of allegience by herself. All of this is true but I was just curious if anyone still reads this stuff.

Gary,
Your granddaughter is so cute...& smart too!  I have not been checking this site as much as I should...but now that I know Tony is going to keep the site going...I intend to check it more often.
Hopefully we all will do this & continue to get our fellow '77 alumni on this site!

In the meantime, not only can this site be used as a "General"
or a prayer request to whomever iis in the Class of 77, we can also share fun stuff from other sites from "YouTube," Example: I was sitting in my home when the thought of "Sunset Sam" came to mind.  It was only shown once or twice on MTV.  I always wondered what the kind of video was that?  Well I looked it up and lo and behold,
THERE IT WAS just as I kind of remembered it. (Strange!) Just go to UTUBE and type in exactly:  "Sunset Sam Lucy and Ramona" Then go to the first color video selection--Look for one that looks like Michael Nesmith as a "Human Fly," (he's really not that).  Then click on it-- and enjoy!  Anybody remember who Michael Nesmith was and why his estate is worth a million dollars today?

Vernon
PS  And remember I saw it once or twice on cable in the early 80's and the title, for some reason, came back to mind!!!

Vernon,   I copied this from facebook.
John Hanson, of Montgomery, Alabama, was diagosed on Jan. 19, 2010 with stage 4 Pancreatic Caner. He has been in and out of hospitals since then.  Please keep he and Debbie, Destin, and John Richard in your prayers. He has stated numerous times -- he is ready for the fight.  (Debbie Goertz was in our class , John graduated 76)

To rap things up when it comes to music videos, here's one of my favorites. Look up on youtube:

"Pet Shop Boys - Always on my mind (HD)"

I think everyone will enjoy this. until then...

 Thanks Judy!!!
I don't see how you do it all!!!
I took the liberty of putting your last e-mmail up on the blog so if anyone missed it they could read it here. Again thanks for all  you do... .....

Hello to all !!!

On March 28, 2010, Sandra Coggins Williams had a stroke.  Since that time, she has not been able to work.  She has applied for disability but has not received any word on whether she has been accepted or denied.  In the meantime, bills are piling up, money is gone, there is no food.

I spent some time with Sandra this afternoon and I am so grateful that I did.  I stopped thinking about me for a few hours and thought about someone else…Sandra !!!  I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with her but I was also taught some lessons that we don’t think about normally.  Sandra can’t open her power bill because she doesn’t have use of her left arm.  If she doesn’t wake up before her husband goes to work, she can’t put her hair in a pony-tail when it starts getting hot on her neck.  She can’t take a shower until he gets home from work.  Who is going to open that jar of peanut butter at lunch time?  Hmmm, can’t pull these pants up with this one hand that does work, what is she gonna do?

I don’t think I can EVER join the masses together as wonderfully as Julie Turner Beard did for John and Debbie Hanson but I do know that I can spread the word about Sandra and ask you to do what feels right in your heart…if you feel compelled to help.

We have several options available:

1.         For those who want to send money to help with utilities, etc., mailing info is:

Sandra Williams

20 Atkin Hill Road

WetumpkaAL  36092

2.         Buy some groceries.  If you can’t deliver, I will be more than glad to take them to her.

3.         We have some wonderful church families out there.  Would someone please let me know who to contact about getting assistance for Sandra during this time.

4.         One of our many hairstylists ~ as you can imagine Sandra has moments of depression.  Going from doing for ones self to being totally dependant on others can bring a person down. If one of you girls would be willing to give my friend a little special attention, I will make sure to get her to you!

Pay it forward…what a wonderful way to look at things!  I have been so blessed with my life and people have helped me when I didn’t think I could make it.  Here is my chance to pay it forward and I hope you will feel the same.

I love you all !!!

Please keep Allen and family in your thoughts and prayers. He is married to Debbie Bryant Gandy, also Class of '77.

As reported to me:

He was at Elmore County getting checked out for some pain and tingling in his neck and left arm and hand. ...He has been having issues with that for a while now and was seeing a doctor for it. He seemed to go into a seizure and next thing they knew he was having a heart attack and flatlined. They revived him and sent him to Jackson's in Montgomery. He is currently in CCU.

If anyone has an update, please post for us.

Much love,
Judi
